Cottonwood Herbal Demonstration Garden

Earth Matters Cottonwood Herbal Demonstration Garden is a community education garden of edible and medicinal herbs where the people of Nelson can volunteer their time or use the space!

Since 1995, we have been developing and implementing innovative, experiential education and community development programs.  These programs have particularly focused on youth environmental stewardship while offering meaningful work experience and unique opportunities for youth to increase their employability, self-esteem, interpersonal effectiveness, and capacity to effect change in their own community

Hendryx St. Forest Garden

This garden park was established about 10 years ago by Earth Matters with the aim of giving Nelson’s downtown core a self sustaining green space filled with fruit and nut trees, herbs and self-sowing plants.

In recent years the park has begun to fall into disrepair and many of the neighbours and local businesses have rallyed to help clean up the garden. If you would like to help out with donations please contact our garden coordinator at earthmatters@nelsoncares.ca
