This was a Job Creation Partnership project running from June to December, designed to increase community capacity in environmental stewardship, and to foster an understanding of why community is so vital to our social and ecological systems.
The goal is to provide awareness, tools, and the surroundings to facilitate the development of community skills in the area of stewardship and sustainable resource management. In reaching our goal we achieved many objectives that serve the community in a variety of ways.
Three participants worked collectively as a team in carrying out this project.
Specific activities included: creating habitat for pollinating insects in the Cottonwood Falls Sustainability Center, developing workshops, school programs, and a children's summer eco-camp, creating and delivering a community workshop series on sustainability issues, producing radio broadcasts and educational resources, and giving local artists exposure through Art in the Park initiatives.
